Welcome to Spectrum Custom Fabric Dyeing and Recipes!
We do fabric dyeing recipes, dye samples and lab dips to match Pantone colors and color swatches selected by our customers. You can buy a recipe from our Gallery of selected dye recipes for 100% natural fabrics and apparel made of cotton, linen, wool, silk or blends of those fabrics. If you don't see the color you wish to dye your fabric into, you can request a custom recipe from us to match your specific fabric and color needs.
This site is intended for fabric dyeing professionals, colorists and technologists specializing in dyeing natural fabrics. The format, contents and level of detail is limited by design and only meant for such people whose full time day job involves fabric dyeing and they are well versed in this terminology and concepts.
The goal of this site is to share our experience with other fabric dyeing professionals who understand the documentation, formulas, recipes and temperature processes illustrated in the graphs. We hope that our past experience and tested recipes prove helpful in designing new dye recipes, engineering new dyeing processes, adjusting existing or re-using the documented ones.
Our fabric dyeing recipes are not intended to help you do fabric dyeing at home. The purpose of this site is not to educate or teach folks how to dye fabric. This is not a do-it-yourself workshop. If you don't understand the content of the example recipes for machine dyeing and hand dyeing, then these recipes are not for you. If you simply want to have a natural fabric dyed, either a piece of clothing, textile or a garment, we'd be happy to do that for you. Please complete this fabric dyeing estimate form and we'll let you know the expected cost.
It goes without saying, but still - we are not selling the garments featured in the Gallery pictures. Those are simply the models that were the subject of each dyeing recipe. We have included both the Before and After dyeing pictures to illustrate the initial state and final result.
If you have a natural fabric that you'd like to dye into a specific color, but you're not sure where to start, which dyes to use, what colors to mix, what temperature process to apply or what the right liquor ratio might be, we can create a custom fabric dyeing recipe for you and send you the documentation. You can then apply that recipe and process in your testing or production environment, make adjustments or use it as is to reproduce or resemble a certain color.
We have documented a number of fabric dyeing recipes and processes that we have used for past projects and that have worked for us. But we realize there are thousands of color choices and we only have a handful to choose from. So if you don't see your color in our Gallery of recipes, you can order a custom recipe!
If you'd like to get an estimate for the cost of this service, you'd have to provide us with some specifics of your project: what kind of fabric you'll be using, what is its exact composition, what is its original color and what is the desired new color. Ideally, we'd like to get a color swatch that you'd like us to match or its Pantone color equivalent, as well as a piece of the actual fabric you'd like to dye.
If it is incovenient to send those items, due to international shipping and timing issues, you can simply specify the type of fabric, the original color and the new color, referencing their Pantone numbers.
We are extremely proud and happy to be able to share our fabric dyeing experience built over 34 years of active studying, analyzing, working with and dyeing natural fabrics. Please note that all dye recipes are the property of Spectrum and their use is governed by our official Terms of Use.
